It has been quite the busy past couple of weeks but I enjoyed all the posts. So life for me has just been busy with trying to keep up with my reading and school work, which I'm a little behind still and need to spend the rest of my friday doing that stuff. But yeah. Things have just been crazy with work and everything else! Last week one of my elders went home. He was the fourth in the zone to go home the past 6 weeks and another might be going home this week. So It was so tough because everything I taught and everything we did in class was pretty much directed at trying to help him to not go home! We tried! That's all I gotta say. But I really pray everyday that he'll come back. He has a strong testimony and can make a great missionary but has some family issues and depression issues possibly to work out. Anyway, so that was weighing on me for a while. Then on tuesday they added an elder to our district so that way the elder whose companion went home didn't have to be part of a trisome of elders. That was a pretty smooth move but hard since he came from a different district and is a little behind in Tagalog now since we already reviewed some things that he hasn't learned yet. Anyway, then that same day (all on my day off) my co-teacher got let go. So that whole night I spent trying to work out my shift with another teacher who was going to sub but already had shifts she needs to work and yada, yada. So this was crazy. Then the next day my missionaries were pretty sad because he was gone. So wow! Let's just say as the zone coordinator things are never calm. There is always something that I'm worrying about or trying to work out. We have so many missionaries too that they split our zone/branch in two so that way the branch president and stuff can keep track of the missionaries better. I thought this was going to make things easier, which it has in a way, but still not. I think I just take things too seriously I don't know. I even felt bad when I was meeting with my supervisor and he was telling me that he was talking to some other supervisors about me and they were telling him that I must be a great zone coordinator who really knows the teachers and missionaries well, etc. So this made me feel good but sad at the same time because my poor supervisor is already stressed out and feeling bad about the situation as did I, etc. Anyway so I finally got things worked out for the next week but it meant I had to work a 9 hour day (and had to interview 13 missionaries) yesterday at work to teach and gets things organized. But good news is starting next wednesday I'll be teaching with the co-teacher I was with this past spring/summer. He's not getting a new district for a few weeks so I requested he be my co teacher again because he's a great teacher and will take a load off which I really need. But yeah so we'll be teaching together for the rest of the semester! Yay! I'm really excited! He's awesome.
Anyway, so things are going well now and this thesis research stuff is kicking my butt. But I think once I get past this semester and make sure I can do whatever research thesis topic I'm going to do for sure then things will get better. So for right now I'm just trying to get enough sleep and trying to keep my head above water for when tests start coming along. For the most part I'm enjoying it all and my classes are okay. But yeah that's pretty much it. Sorry if none of this makes sense and thanks for putting up with me talking about my missionaries all the time. The district I have right now is awesome! But yeah my goal for this week is to get my reading done and figure out how I can get the air conditioning to work in my classroom at the MTC because it's always hot and stuffy and smells(not me, the elders) because there are 13 missionaries in a small room. Just last night the sisters were telling me the room smells. I said "yeah only at certain times like just now but then it goes away". They laughed. They think I'm funny and it's great. But I was serious. I think they got the hint that it's just the elders who are too shy to leave the room or claim it that makes it smell. Or maybe it's one of the sisters? hehe...But yeah I'm trying to be mature about it. I've never had this happen before. I don't know hopefully it goes away. But yeah life is great and I try to laugh and find something funny about everyday which I normally do! Come what may and love it! Oh and I'll post a picture of my district that left a few weeks ago.

Well I am now about to start my second week of graduate school! Yay! Well it's kinda exciting I guess. Well last week my district left. I was glad to seem them go because honestly they needed to go and there wasn't much else that we could do for them here at the MTC. I think for the most part they were prepared so I'm excited for them. Of course I do miss them though. But I have a new district of 13 and they are fantastic. They are diligent and hard working and hopefully they keep it up! I have 3 sisters in my district too which is an answer to my prayers! So last week was pretty busy getting this new group settled in and such. Pictures to come once my co-teacher e-mails them to me.
The first week of school went pretty well too. The first day was great then the second not so much and then things just kept getting piled on as to what I need to be doing. I have a lot of reading and assignments to get done so I need to be really productive today since I'm kinda behind with everything. But I finally realized that I need to use my planner and plan things out and since then things have gone much better. Plus I spoke to one of the professors who I want to work on my thesis with and I told him what my interests kind of were and he gave me agreat idea of what to do my research on. It was awesome! I want to get started right away because I don't want to procrastinate this thesis. I'm a terrible writer too and I know this will take a lot of time for me. But pretty much we want to get a pilot study going this semester and get my proposal pretty much done this semester so I can propose next semester then get started on the research spring/summer and fall. So if you know of anyone who lacks Range of Motion in any of the major joints please let me know! I could use the help! But yeah, I'm excited for that.
Other than that not too much has happened. BYU beat Oklahoma on saturday so that was pretty dang exciting! It was way cool and Provo went crazy! Such a huge win! Anyway, I'm actually excited for football this year seeing as we should have a great season! Welp not much else to write about. Life is busy but great!

Well the past couple of weeks have been pretty good. Just now I went to a temple dedication. It was really good except for the fact that I had to use a tissue instead of a handkerchief and I struggled to stay awake at the beginning. But it was really good and it was so good to hear from a prophet of God. That was definitely the highlight for me. This past week I was pretty busy with packing and working and moving and such. So that took up most my time. But things are great! School starts in a week which is WAY too soon for me. I can't believe that the summer is already coming to an end. I feel like it just got started. Anyway, I am kinda excited for what's going to happen now. I'm a little nervous for my new classes but hopefully I'll do well. And we're getting a ton of new missionaries in the next couple of weeks so it'll be busy. But I'm sure I can handle it. I mean...c'mon, Ako pa! Hehe...kidding. I will be able to handle it with the Lord's help though. So I'm going to enjoy the last week I have free from school from a while and Liz is coming to visit so that'll be cool too. But yeah a lot new things are going to be happening this fall. New ward, new apartment/roommates, new missionaries, starting grad school, etc. So it'll be interesting!

Hilary Clinton...wierdo!

Watch this video! It is absolutely ridiculous. I know that we shouldn't judge others but seriously as secretary of state you should know better than this. Supposedly the translator might have mistranslated but even if not that doesn't give you the right to get angry like that especially when you are in another country trying to build foreign relations. It seems like all those years in the white house seeing her husband do crazy things to this country including having affairs with other women might have led to some unresolved anger issues. Seems like she's been holding this stuff in for a long time. "I am secretary of state, not my husband." Oooohhh wow, look at her. Now she's finally got the upper hand on her husband! What are weird family. Anyway, for some reason this just got me a little perturbed. I think it's cool having women in positions like this but not when they can't control their PMS and emotions. Gives all of us a bad name. Geez! Anyway, enough of my rambling for now. No wonder why I hate politics and avoid it at all costs! Off to work! :)

Well yet again I mourn the loss of another district. This district was so amazing. I wasn't able to get as close with them as I would have liked because I only taught them a couple days a week. But I learned so much from them nonetheless and I know they will all do great in the Philippines. I thank God that I was able to meet them. Anyway, today I've spent some time after work cleaning the bathroom and going through a bunch of clothes. I now have 3 trash bags full of clothes to go to D.I. Every time I move I get rid of new clothes haha. Today I just wasn't in the mood to try and keep stuff because I have a lot of packing to get done before friday. So I ended up just getting rid of a lot of stuff. There's more stuff that I need to get rid of though because I want to pack as few boxes as possible to make this move a lot smoother and quicker than last time. But anyway, today was pretty good and I good amount done I guess. I am definitely excited for the move to a new ward and new apartment though! My other apartment is a little smaller than this one though.
Last week I took my certification exam again. I'm pretty positive I passed this time. I mean last time I barely missed it and this time I studied a lot and felt a lot more prepared and felt like I guessed on not too many questions. But yeah I'll find out in a couple weeks if I passed or not. Yesterday a really good friend Azul left. She is being deported to Mexico which completely sucks considering she was raised in the states. But you know the Lord has a plan for her and I'm sure things will work out for the better for her. She is going to be missed anyway though! No doubt she has impacted many lives since she's been in this ward.
Hmmm...what else has happened? We had a zone party for all the teachers last tuesday night and we all cooked some filipino food and of course did a little videoke (karaoke but with a video). It was so much fun! I think I was getting into the most. I don't know why because I'm not normally comfortable with singing or dancing (I danced a little to one song) in front of other people. I guess I just felt really comfortable with all of them. It was a little embarassing though when I was dancing and I don't have the best voice. But you know what? It was fun anyway and I'm glad I did it. I love the teachers that I work with and they are so much fun yet work so hard to help their missionaries.
Welp can't think of anything else to write. I bought my all sports pass and am excited for the new football season. I'm sitting with a good friend too so this'll be fun! We bought my friend a Ukelele for her birthday and I've been trying to learn "drop, baby, drop" on it. I stink at the strumming part. Maybe I should take up learning guitar? I wish I had more time but school is going to be starting soon....AHHHH!!! Oh and my stupid smoke detector keeps beeping and it's obnoxious! I'm just gonna have to take the batteries out. Better not be a fire anytime soon or I'm toast!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Welp here we go again with another post. I've been so bad about this stuff lately! I honestly thought that I was going to have so much more time since my spring class is over. But since I've been teaching two districts things have been really busy. Plus I've spent more time hanging out with some friends. Anyway, so for the update.
I can't believe school starts in a few weeks! I'm not going to lie but I'm pretty nervous to be starting grad school. I'm not quite sure how tough things are going to be. I'm going to continue teaching at the MTC during this time as well. I didn't pass my certification exam so I'm taking it this friday again. I'm pretty sure that I'll pass it this time. I still have some more studying to do but I'm feeling more confident this time around so we'll see! I got my diploma in the mail the other day so now I can say that I'm officially graduated! Yay!
Teaching at the MTC has been crazy busy. I love my missionaries and I'm going to miss seeing the group that I'm teaching right now that leaves in a week. They've been a joy to teach and I love them so much! The other group I'm teaching has been in the MTC for 6 weeks! Time flies so quick. They have been a little bit tougher to teach but we are working our hardest to help them! But there's only so much that we can do as teachers. They really need to step it up and work hard. I'm kind of an overachiever too so with my zone coordinator position I've really been working hard to help the districts with everything that they do. Things have been going really well in the zone and with all the teachers. I feel like I've been able to help them all and the zone has gotten more unified. We have definitely raised the standard with all the missionaries and I've been seeing more miracles because of it. I love work everyday and love to learn from all of the missionaries!
I've been a gospel doctrine teacher this spring/summer and today was my last day teaching. I feel that things went well although I could have improved in many aspects. I'm moving out of my apartment on the 14th but can't move in to my new place until the 25th so I'm not quite sure what I'm going to be doing until then. But I'm so excited for a change and am excited to be moving to a new place. Although the moving part of everything I'm really not excited about!
The past couple of days I was able to go home to visit. I was so glad to go home and to meet the new neice and nephew and to just talk with each other. I loved just reminiscing on the past and just things like that. I really wish that I could've stayed longer but time just would not allow for this to happen. Everyone was pretty busy with the new kids but they were fun to see. I love being around babies because it just reminds you to be Christlike and how innocent children are. I was just thinking that they just came from our Heavenly Father not too long ago and as we are here on earth we forget that we used to live with Him and we start to lose perspective on life. But I love my family and I love being with them. Yesterday I was also able to serve as the escort at the temple for a friend who is getting married. It was so awesome to be able to share that experience with her and to help her in her process of getting married. She was nervous and it was fun to make her laugh and to get her excited for the sealing. It was awesome to be in the sealing room at the temple with them and to see them get sealed together for all time and all eternity. The guy who baptized her and her family was there too and that was so awesome to see! The Lord is so mindful of us all and knows what we need and how to help us! So this past while has been very testimony strengthening and I can't help but wonder what to Lord has in store for me in the future and what he is preparing me for. Anyway, I gotta write some letters to missionaries now!

Sunday, June 21, 2009

Well I guess it's been a while since I've updated the blog. This tends to happen. Anyway, I've found myself having a little bit more time lately now that I'm officially done with school! Yay! I'm now officially graduated! And I think I might have even pulled off a decent grade in my class haha! That would be nice. So now I have a couple months break before I start grad school! I just took my certification exam last week and I'm pretty sure I didn't pass because I didn't spend enough time studying. So with the extra time I have I'm going to spend it really studying in preparation to retake the exam. I'll found out for sure if I passed or not pretty soon. But I'm just going to study anyway just in case. So now most of what I've got going on in life is work. I'm now working a little more than 30 hours a week at the MTC. I have a second district now that I split time with 2 other teachers. They are a great bunch although full of questions. I guess that's a good thing though. So that's been keeping me busy. Things have been going well as zone coordinator although there are still things I'd like to improve but we're working on that. All in all I'm really pleased with how things are going. I'm trying to get to know all of the missionaries and to be available to help all of them. I still make mistakes at times but am trying my best to improve and do better. My district leaves in a week. One of the sisters leaves tomorrow for whatever reason and I'm going to miss her so much! I'm going to miss them all. They are all going to accomplish many miracles in the mission field and I'm so excited to hear about it! Anyway, I'll be getting another new district next week. There are only 7 of them so that'll be nice to be able to help them each individually. Anyway, so things are going great there!
A sister from my mission, Sis. Doloy is out here in Provo now because she's going to get married and I'm way excited to see her. I'm going to be seeing her tomorrow so I'm way excited! She is one of my favorite sisters from the mission! Teaching gospel doctrine has been going well too so all in all I'm happy right now and just trying to enjoy a little bit of a break. Jean and Ross had their baby a few weeks ago so I'm excited to be able to meet Marcus in a month or so and Tom an Monique also had their baby, Ridley so I'm excited to be able to meet her too and to also see Christian and the rest of them for a first time in a while. I can't believe I haven't been home since Christmas. Time just flies! Anyway, life is great and I'm just trying to let things come what may and love it! I'll post a picture of my latest district that's going to be leaving in a week. :(
